Fremont Elementary Named Finalist

Fremont Elementary in Arvada has been named one of the top three finalists for the 21st Century School of Distinction Award. This award is sponsored by Intel Corporation, Scholastic Administr@tor, and Blue Ribbon Schools of Excellence Foundation. Coming in as one of the top three finalists is no small feat. These sponsors received 1,285 applications nationwide. Thanks to Melissa Swenson's diligence, time, and eloquent prose, Fremont cleared the first two phases of the process and is waiting word from the award committee for further instructions to complete the final phase. Possibly a site visit as part of the final selection process.

Fremont participated in the "Best of the Best" category. In this category,the school must show excellence in 1) Student Focus and Support; 2) School Organization and Culture; 3) Challenging Standards and Curriculum; 4) Technology Integration; 5) Active Teaching and Learning; 6) Leadership and Educational Vitality; 7) Professional Community; 8) School, Family, and Community Partnerships; 9) and Indicators of Success. The school has to have demonstrated why it truly is an exemplary comprehensive school.
