A Nation ChallengedTitle: A Nation Challenged: A Visual History of 9/11 and its Aftermath
Authors: Mitchel Livitas (Text edited), Howell Raines (Introduction)
Illustrator: photographs edited by Nancy Lee and Lonnie Schlein
Publisher: The New York Times/Scholastic Nonfiction

We will all remember where we were on 9/11. We will never forget the pictures on the news the days afterwards. Nor shall we forget The War on Terror and the tightened airport security. In A Nation Challenged, the authors portray our emotions all over again. A Nation Challenged is a collection of articles and photographs from all over the US covering different parts of 9/11 and beyond. The first chapter is about the actual day from the North Tower to President Bush's speech. The second chapter covers the funerals, rescue teams, vigils, etc. in the days after. The last two chapters cover the War on Terror, new security, and other things.

I enjoyed this book because it was easy to follow and had an easy to understand format. It has maps of the US and Afghanistan, diagrams, and lots of stunning photo graphs. This book is for all ages, despite the young readers format. We all remember what happened, so therefore we would all appreciate and understand A Nation Challenged. (February, 2003)
