Artemis Fowl The Arctic IncidentTitle: Artemis Fowl The Arctic Incident
Author: Eoin Colfer
Publisher:
Talk Miramax Books Hyperion books for children
Number of Pages: 277

Artemis Fowl is boy. A boy who also happens to be a criminal mastermind. In the previous book, Artemis Fowl, he cheats the fairies, led by Commander Root and Captain Holly Short (of the LEP recon unit) out of some of their precious gold. In this book , Artemis goes at it again. Except this time the stakes are higher. Much higher. This time Artemis is trying to locate his father, believed to be dead for the past two years.

The fairies have their own problems. The B'wa Kell Goblin triad is making some strange moves around humans, and carrying weapons that were long since outlawed. But they (the Goblins) aren't smart enough to do this alone. There must be someone helping them. But who?

The first answer is Artemis. After they find out he has nothing to do with it, they decide to compromise. The fairies will help Artemis find his father, and in return he will help them find the person behind the goblin raids.
They set out together, but even as they leave the fairy world under the earth, the situation underground becomes much more serious.... Read the book to find out how it ends!

I thought that this was a great book, with excellent detail. The story was rather complex, however, so I would not recommend it to kids under 10. If you enjoyed this book then try, Artemis Fowl, by Eoin Colfer, and Into the Land of the Unicorns by Bruce Coville. Enjoy! (September, 2002)
