Have
you ever wonder what really lives in the sewers besides cockroaches, slugs
and crocodiles? I never have but here's your chance to find out.
Roddy (voiced by Hugh Jackman) is a rich English rat that lives in a big two-story golden cage. It's roomy but he's still a pet. He is completely alone when his human family leaves and has no one to talk to except for a few plastic dolls.
When Sid, a sewer rat, invades the house, Roddy is flushed down the toilet and into the sewer. Eventually he finds himself in a miniaturized, rat filled version of London.
In order
to get back to the topside, he must embark on a crazy adventure with a brave
rat boat captain called Rita (voiced by Kate Winslet) who runs the Jammy
Dodger, her family's ship.
There's
one big problem to solve before he can get home; an evil frog is trying
to flood rat London and re-populate it with frogs. Will Roddy and Rita be
able to save the rat London from the frog menace? Only the movie can tell
you that.
DreamWorks Studios and Aardman Productions made Flushed Away. This is the same team that created Chicken Run and Wallace and Gromit: Curse of the Were-rabbit. If you pay really close attention, you can see a green and white shirt in Roddy's closet that was worn by Wallace in Curse of the Were-rabbit.
This new movie looks a lot like Claymation but it was computer generated. You can read more about it at www.flushedaway.com.
I would
recommend this movie for kids age 8 and up. If you liked Chicken Little
or Shrek, you'll like this one - especially the singing slugs. I
rate it high - 4 slugs out of a possible 5. (Nov. 2 , 2006)
